Coming in Summer 2020

You’ve likely heard by now that this season will be Kirkwood Theatre Guild’s final curtain call at the Robert G. Reim Theatre… but that doesn’t mean we’ll be saying goodbye! After 89 years of entertaining Kirkwood and its surrounding communities, KTG is proud to announce we’ll have a new home to ring in our 90th season.

The new Performing Arts Center will be nestled near the corner of Taylor and Monroe Avenues. Our new address of 210 E. Monroe Avenue is just a five-minute drive away from the Community Center, so you won’t have to change your show night plans in the slightest. Plus, there’ll be more room for you to bring a couple more friends along to opening night, with 500+ seats in the main theater with a balcony area, an event space and a building shell for a studio theater. The facility will also come with all the fixings: lobbies, a box office, dressing rooms and storage areas. All that totals to about 38,000 square feet completely dedicated to nurturing the arts in Kirkwood.

In addition to KTG making the Center its new home, Stages St. Louis and our city’s in-house youth theatre program will also make the move. That’s a brand-new Center with three times the theatre!

The City broke ground on the Center back on November 8, 2018.

Since then, crews installed the first precast concrete wall section on Monday, May 13, 2019. On August 5, the final precast concrete panel forming the stage and house area for the main theater was set. The steel framework for the studio theater event space and support area is also set with construction for their masonry walls also underway.

The Center remains on schedule for an opening in the summer of 2020.

Fundraising

What Will It Cost?

While the City of Kirkwood was gracious enough to put forth the effort and funds, quality theater comes at a price.

The Center will cost approximately $26 million dollars to build. In exchange for calling the Center home, Kirkwood Theatre Guild has been asked to put forth $500,000 of its own funds.

KTG was founded to present theatrical products for the enjoyment of our members and the community, as well as to stimulate interest in the dramatic arts.

This new Center isn’t just for KTG. It, like the Robert G. Reim Theatre before it, will stand as a staple in the Kirkwood community for decades to come. From the thespians of today to their grandchildren, this Center will cultivate and nurture the arts long after the curtain closes on the Center’s opening season.

With that in mind, we humbly ask you during this time, as we prepare for a new home and era, to consider donating to this cause. We are so proud to be a part of this community, and in order to remain that way, we are relying on your donations to keep our commitment to the City and continue to produce the theatre you’ve grown to know and love.

Any amount brings us closer to carrying out our mission and moving into the Performing Arts Center in 2020.

Donating is simple. Just follow the link here and check “Capital Campaign” donation then enter your desired donation amount.

Thank you for supporting the arts in Kirkwood!

Inaugural Show

On With The Show!

Kirkwood Theatre Guild has the honor of being the first theatre group in the city to utilize the new Performing Arts Center.

In August of 2020, we will be putting on an inaugural show, honoring 90 years of Kirkwood Theatre Guild history. This will very much be a salute to all the work we’ve done so far, with elements for the whole family to enjoy.

Keep checking back on this page as we finalize more plans for that first show in the new Center. Updates will also be posted to our social media pages.
